A Day As A Volunteer
Thursday, May 27, 2010

I was out practically the whole day today doing voluntary work. I helped out as an usher for I Theatre which is a charitable organisation. I was helping out for this theatrical act for ACE Festival since they are performing shows for kids. So the event was held in a freaking attas building near Newton MRT station. And trust me, I've not seen so many Caucasians in the same building in Singapore before! I bet most of them are French since that building is a French building and looks kind of artistic. Those parents looked extremely affluent and they sure know how to carry themselves well. From head to toe, whatever they've don is nothing but branded goods. Though I'm not sure what brands they were wearing, their clothes certainly looked expensive. They could easily be walking advertisements for those brands. With clothes people covet, money people desire, plus an air of classiness around them, it's difficult for some not to be snobbish at all.

So, I ushered, helped out to tear Sistic tickets, did some admin work and blah blah blah. It was an absolutely exhausting job! Man, I tired myself out for free labour. This is voluntary work for you. Of course, in this case, volunteers have to take sense of satisfaction as something more desirable than monetary satisfaction. But it's an experience NOT TO BE MISSED. Lol.

Ok, the show was called The Gruffalo. Apparently, I've not heard of this story until I volunteered in this activity. And to those children, if you do not know the Gruffalo, you are not in at. NOT IN AT ALL. I watched this show thrice today and I can practically act it out already. Hahax! And I volunteered to help out in this activity again which means I have to watch it for another 3 more times?!

Ushering people to seats does not pose much problems but problems arise when they do not want to sit in those seats allocated to them. And this is really exhausting. So I noticed that kids today are way more hip than those in the past. I recalled those days when I was just their age. I don't remember myself going for such theartre acts. Neither do I wear uniforms so 'hippishly'. Times have indeed changed.

Went out with CCA people today because they wanted to celebrate my birthday. Lol. So we went to Plaza Sing and had Dim Sum at Crystal Jade for lunch. The food was not too bad(:

It was enjoyable and it was sweet of them for remembering my birthday and took the effort to celebrate with me. It's the thought that counts at the end of the day and it's heartening enough to just know that((:

They bought me a slice of strawberry cheesecake for me and asked me if I liked it. Of course I do! I really like it, just that I won't eat it cos it's cheese. But I still told them I liked it. It's a white lie to avoid hurting their feelings. Their efforts are well appreciated, not to worry. Thanks people!

Have been watching The Big Bang Theory recently and I totally like this sitcom which hads such lame humour. Just to relax and de-stress. Hahax!

Exciting Activities

Have not been blogging for quite a while already and I would like to recount a few recent activities(:

SHOPPING & DINNER ON WED
Sus, Coli and I went Orchard for some retail therapy before heading for City Hall for more of that. We went to City Hall because Coli had went to the Timbre there before. So, some girls mistook Coli and Sus for lesbians since Coli derived so much pleasure from touching Sus's hands! Lol. Ok, it was an absolutely hilarious sight not to be missed(: And I was quite shocked at how the girls continued to be riveted by Coli and Sus when I was actually looking at them look at Coli and Sus. Hur! Well, and of course Sus totally freaked out. Hahax! But anw, I'm sure both are straight(:

Then we headed for Timbre which I think is a really nice place. Timbre is a bar where people can eat and have drinks. It only has an entrance and it's funny how the only main entrance seems like a back door. We went there at 6pm since we did not make any reservations and fear of a lack of seats. So we were the first few customers. It's not bad. Though not air-conditioned, it's cooling and windy at times. It's in the outdoors but there's shelters above. But the place could do a little bit of renovation and upgrading. The ambience is fine though. So we ordered half-half pizzas - Roasted Duck and Tandoori Chicken. The Roasted Duck is simply delicious! It's sauce and popiah skin...oh man. It leaves you wanting more(: I ordered an Apple Martini (which tasted like diluted apple juice) for drinks while Sus ordered Cosmopolitan and Coli, Lychee Martini.
I would feel like dining at Timbre's again!

SWIMMING ON FRI
Cousins and I went swimming at Safra Yishun on Fri morning at around 10am. So the four of us went to swim a few laps. There's this super HOT guy swimming at the pool too(: Omg, he's damn hot, like super uber hot. I cannot really see him that clearly since my goggles have no degree but there's no doubt that he's freaking scorching hot!! But I only managed to see his side view cos if I see him straight in the face, it may become too obvious that I'm staring at him. Lol.
And the best part comes when we went to the jacuzzi(: Ok, he was all along swimming NON-STOP so I did not really get a good view of him. But when we were at the jacuzzi relaxing, he suddenly stopped swimming and just rested. So we were ogling at him and I bet he can feel our stares burnung right through his skin and that is why he turnied towards our direction and stared at us! I'm not sure if he was really looking at us since I cannot see clearly without spectacles so I continued looking in his direction yet not directly at him. Then I think he took more notice of us and wanted to impress us(: So he did a dive! He dove into a 1.2m pool! With someone of his height(around 1.8m), he couldn't possibly dive in a shallow pool, so I think it's so obvious he wanted to impress us cos if he did that at the deeper part, we may not have seen it. It's so obvious(: Hahax! Anw, he may be at the pool again and we may catch sight of him. Lol.

Hiking + Dinner = Contented Day
Sunday, May 16, 2010

I had a contented day today. Went out to PLAY, not to work. And I went out with 2 different groups of friends on the same day, which makes it even more satisfying.

Went hiking in Southern Ridges in the afternoon. Apparently, this is my first time being there and I had no idea that there's such a place in Singapore. It's scenic in its own sense though not spectacular since most of the scenery are repetitive. You know, as usual, there's nothing but trees and more trees. Not that it's a bad thing, but you know....
Our hike started at around 3pm and it was a looooong walk throughout. The weather was cloudy but it still feels so hot because Singapore is so humid?! So we took a few photos here and there while I was perspiring almost all the time. Technically, we walked from Buona Vista to Harbourfront because I alighted at BV station and ended the trail at Harbourfront station.

So, I met my classmates for dinner at around 7pm instead at 6pm. Lol. Ok, I do feel quite guilty for being late especially since they waited for me before ordering their dinner! Aww, so sweet of them(: We ate at Xin Wang Taiwan Cafe where I ordered a Herbal Chicken Mee Sua and an Ice Pearl Jasmine Green Tea. It was quite delicious though the mee sua is kind of salty.
Then we chatted a lot while eating. And we continued our chat somewhere in the Esplanade.
And then the few of us continued our night while the rest went off. We took lots of photos and it was so nice cos it's the Singapore Arts Festival now and everything there seems so arty farty!! We saw this amazing art place called the Fire Garden. There was fire being contained almost everywhere. It was fantastic art. Plus, there was a lake? beside the Fire Garden which made this art piece even more beautiful since there's a contrast between fire and water. Then we moved on to camwhore even more, took more spastic pictures which I think I looked really quite unglam in them. Oh man.

Well, it was a great night spent and I really totally look forward to going out and playing more often:D

GHD IV STYLER!!
Thursday, May 6, 2010

I just checked it out. I want a GHD IV styler! Omg, I think it's chic and it's suitable for all hair lengths:D But it costs 119 pounds?! So it should be more than $200. So expensive... Not sure if it's available in Singapore. If there's a discount, I may grab it(: Or maybe not...lol

NICCCCCCEEEEEEEEE
Tuesday, May 4, 2010

I've not blogged for a long time and I dun feel like blogging anyway cos I dun have much to blog either. But, I feel the need to do so since I'm so free and I should at least maintain my blog if I'm actually not that busy.

Ok, so I went for retail therapy with Sus at Orchard yesterday. Same old thing...we headed for our usual shops. Blahblahblah.... I actually searched for F21 clothes online and a handful had caught my eye. I feel like buying them but may control myself if there's no discount on those items yet. However, the thing is...I can't even find those nice items on sale at F21, so even if I had the money, I cannot but those items directly from the shop?! And I dun have the habit of buying apparels online since I cannot try them on, so oh well....
So, shop shop shop...and there's no nice items...no sales, so I did not buy any clothes. Well, I can save $$$(:
As usual, Sus bought Diva rings?? Lol. I think she can try to put some on her toes if she has rings on all her fingers and still has remaining rings. Hahax!

Recently, I'm very into make-up and hairdo. And since I'm quite free, I actually have the luxury to explore into all these areas. I even had the thought of buying lots and lots of different make-up, each having different brands, colours and shades! Well, I must be mad cos I certainly won't want to splurge so much money on make-up alone...but I'm envious of those girls who actually have their large make-up collection!! Anyway, it's just a RANDOM thought right? No harm thinking about that:D
I'm thinking about buying hair straighteners too. And this is not so much of a random thought. If there's sales and the straighteners is of affordable price, I may really get one(: Lol. I think it'd be nice if both Sus and I can buy the straighteners tgt:D

Hmm, I want to enter those large, stand-alone make-up stores which always seem to intimidate me cos their products look expensive. Come to think of it, I do not think that they are that expenssive right? Hahax! Anw, we should try to enter one of those shops one day, yah Sus? Then we'll proceed on to even higher-end shops like Prada(: Lol.

I've actually fancied watching youtube videos. Initially, it was just to pass time and to surf the Net longer...but it's close to an addiction now. Hahax! Ok, I'm exaggerating!

Went to have a small chit-chat with FW today, borrowed 2 books from Yishun library, went gym later and ate Berrylite (I think it's spelt this way:D) yoghurt after that, which is like totally yummie?

Most likely swimming tmr(:
