Life in NYJC
Saturday, May 14, 2011

I was brought back in time by recent events. A visit back to NYJC 2 days ago and drinking the night before led to the wonderful JC memories flooding back. It made me rmb how much I love NY and this further affirmed the fact that I can never abandon those memories NY gave me.

Going to school at 7.40am on the dot (I was seldom very early but I was punctual!), not singing during flag-raising, chatting like crazy with my clique and not listening to the morning announcements is how a mundane school day started for the 2 years I was in NY. Exasperated with how nonchalent 0805 can be, Mr N accepted the fact that we would not listen to morning assemblies. Skipping PE lessons, or attending them but refused to play the ball games instructed by PE teachers are some of the small truants my clique used to play in JC. Maybe the PE teachers know we were vases during PE lessons cos we would shun when balls approach us and would crowd together and chat during matches. For goodness sake. But we were never vases when it comes to consultations(: Morning bio lectures with the fear of not reading the notes beforehand (come to think of it, I dun read my notes beforehand), boring GP tuts with Mr Y beating around the bush and droning on for hrs, Chem lessons on bonding, exciting Econs tut with Mr N, maths tut with Sgt W who would lock us out of class if we were late and planning the fastest route to the canteen once lesson ends so we can get our food at the fastest possible time are some of the things taken for granted while I was in NY. How ironic things can be. These were things we used to complain back then, but it turned out that these were also the things I missed so dearly after I've graduated.

These are some of the memories that were revived while queuing up for food in the NY canteen 2 days ago. Had chicken rice and my all-time fav mocha oreo!! I love it so much(: WOOHOO!!! We used to talk and laugh so loudly in the canteen(:

Chatted with Mr N for quite a while during the visit too and luckily he still remembered me after not visiting for close to 2 yrs!haha. Discussed about a lot of things. We even talked about the elections. I always find it a joy to talk to him cos he always provides me with new insights on issues, allowing me to learn something more.

Drinking yst made me think back about the post-prom we had, downing hard liquor at Yellow Jello before hitting the clubs. The fun we used to have as a class. While it was dark in those clubs, I felt assured cos I had my girls with me.

Even after drinking quite a lot yst and feeling sleepy, it was funny how I couldn't sleep until 3 plus in the morning. I kept thinking about the days in JC and how much I love it. I realise I love it even more cos I had crazy and fun friends with me. I still have my crazy JC friends, but just not in the same sch as me now. But it doesn't matter right cos friends are for life!

I love NY and of course I love SMU the way it is too(:
